Eliason Family | Autumn 2020 | Bodega Bay, Ca
Some people may note that my sessions are pretty laid back and there’s not a whole lot of structure to them. You know what, it works - for me at least - especially with {stubborn} kids. I mean, at home when you say clean your room, I’m sure you get some kind of resistance. Now pair that with a super fun place, they certainly don’t want listen, they want to have all the carefree fun that they’ve been missing out on all year!
So, guess what? Let them be kids. Let them explore. This is you. This is your family. This is what I want to capture. Stay calm (because your grump will show in your photos) and just be in the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll absolutely do Grandma’s favorite photo with everybody looking at me at the beginning (and then when everybody allows we’ll try again), but my goal is to see how you all interact as a family unit. Playing, crying, yelling, cuddling, running - I’ll get all of that if it shows and you will not be disappointed. That is real life. That is what I’m trying to capture. I want to see you all being you, not some statues posed up on a mantle somewhere. If you really want that, that is ok, but I am not the photographer for you. I’m here for authentic, organic memories. Really, I want this to be an experience, and one you will remember. When you print your images, hang them up on your walls, send them to family, I want to to be able to look at it and smile because it tiggers memories of a beautiful time.
